Our Story

Chosen Beauty Studios is more than just a beauty business. It is a name with a story, a meaning, and a purpose very close to my heart.

The word “Chosen” comes from my middle name, Khethiwe, and it holds a very special place in my heart because it was given to me by my late grandfather.

In my family, there is a beautiful tradition where, when a baby is born, they are presented to the elders of the family. When my older siblings were presented to my grandfather, they would usually cry when he held them for the first time. But when it was my turn, something different happened — I didn’t cry.

My grandfather was so happy and touched by my reaction that he gave me the name Khethiwe, meaning Chosen, because he believed that I had chosen him.

That story stayed with me and became part of who I am. Today, I carry the name Chosen into my business because I want every person who walks through our doors to feel exactly that — chosen, valued, loved, and appreciated.

When a customer chooses Chosen Beauty Studios, they are not just coming to get their hair, nails, braids, or crochet done. They are choosing an experience where they can feel beautiful, confident, cared for, and celebrated.

My Passion for Beauty

My love for beauty started long before Chosen Beauty Studios existed.

Growing up, I always enjoyed making people look and feel beautiful. I remember combing and styling my friends' hair when I was younger. They would often come to me for ideas and ask how they could style their hair differently. Those little moments made me realise that beauty was more than something I enjoyed — it was a passion I carried naturally.

I have always believed that the way we present ourselves can influence the way we feel about ourselves. When you look good, you often feel good, and when you feel good, you become more confident.

That is the feeling I want to give to young women through Chosen Beauty Studios.

I want every woman who visits us to be reminded that she is beautiful, she is worthy, and she should never be afraid to show up confidently and pursue whatever she dreams of.

Why Chosen Beauty Studios Exists

Chosen Beauty Studios was created to be more than a place where beauty services are offered. It is a space where beauty meets confidence, and where every client is reminded of their worth.

Our purpose is to help women express themselves through beauty while creating an environment where they feel seen, appreciated, loved, and valued.

The name Chosen reminds me of where I come from, the love my grandfather showed me, and the person I am becoming. And every time a customer chooses us, it reminds me that the story continues.
