    Mabuda Coffee – Our Story

Tucked away in the rolling hills of the Lubombo Mountains in Eswatini, Mabuda Farm is more than just a coffee farm — it is where nature, heritage, and hard work come together to create something truly special.

Mabuda Farm is a family business owned by Jonathan and Helen Pons. The farm has been in Helen's family since the 1930s, with the couple taking ownership in 1997. As Swazi citizens, Jonathan and Helen are deeply committed to their community in Siteki and to the country as a whole. Jonathan is a renowned ophthalmologist dedicated to fighting blindness in Eswatini and southern Africa. He runs both his private practice and charitable work from his clinic at Mabuda, while Helen oversees farm administration and the Guest Farm.

Mabuda's mission is simple and strong: Provide, Protect, Prosper.

To provide nutrition for the people of the Lubombos.

To prosper the Lubombos through employment, skills development, and discipleship.

To protect the Lubombos' biodiversity and landscape through conservation, research, and advocacy.

Our journey into commercial coffee farming is recent, but the roots go back to 1959, when Helen's ancestor, Carl Todd, planted the first Mabuda coffee trees. In 2010, Jonathan began planting new coffee orchards, and in 2019, Mabuda Farm Coffee was established.

Mabuda Farm Coffee has grown from a few experimental rows of Arabica into a thriving coffee estate. Grown at high altitude under a natural forest canopy, our beans are handpicked, sun-dried, and roasted in small batches to highlight their rich, complex flavour.

What truly sets Mabuda Coffee apart is the heart behind every cup. We believe in ethical farming, sustainable practices, and empowering our local team through training, fair wages, and pride in their work. This isn't just about coffee — it's about community. Every cup of coffee supports livelihoods and strengthens the fabric of rural Eswatini.

Today, Mabuda Coffee is enjoyed both locally and internationally — not just as a product, but as a reflection of a place: a quiet corner of Eswatini where dreams grow, and where every bean tells a story of care, craftsmanship, and connection to the land.

Welcome to Mabuda. Welcome to the Place of Dreams.
